World Finals, here we come!
Together, we have contributed thousands of hours of time to the project and have reaped the rewards of doing so. In our first year of competition, we have journeyed from Tumut, NSW of only 6000 people and will soon be representing Australia on the world stage at the F1 in Schools Singapore World Final.
We have progressed through the NSW State Final where we placed 3rd Overall and received a wildcard invitation to the F1 in Schools National Finals held in Launceston, Tasmania. The National Finals was held in early March and after a rigorous three days of competition, we placed 2nd Overall. This alongside securing several categorical awards including Best Managed Enterprise, Best Team Marketing, Best Graphic Design and Best Newcomers.
These outstanding results qualifying us, as one of four teams, to represent Australia at the 2018 Singapore F1 in Schools World Finals which will be held in September on Sentosa Island, alongside the Singapore Grand Prix.
From the four teams representing Australia, Iota are the only team representing a rural and regional area, with the other teams being based in large metropolitan areas: Melbourne and Adelaide.
F1 in Schools is a rigorous, holistic, worldwide challenge which incorporates the use of design and technology into the real world. Students are essentially placed in charge of an F1 Company: from the designing of a miniature F1 car that reaches speeds of 80km/h, the manufacturing of said car, the team marketing, to the securing of stakeholders and management. It is all a part of the competition.
One of the most challenging and critical aspects of the competition is raising the necessary funding to compete at the World Finals in Singapore. The vast majority of our funding comes from sponsorship partnerships with business.
We are very excited to announce that we have three Major Sponsors as we prepare for the F1 in Schools World Finals. This includes the continued partnerships with Visy and Ray White Tumut along with the introduction of Rosin Developments, our latest Major Sponsor. We have also obtained a vast array of new sponsors from across Australia, these include:
- Snowy Valleys Council
- Snowy Hydro
- Scandinavian Forestry & Engineering
- DME Engineering Services Austral;lia
- Bosch Australia
- Dexion Australia
- LEAP Australia
- White Moth Studios
- Dhuki Intralogistic Solutions
- 3D Systems
- Wagga Weekly
- JAR Aerospace
We would like to thank all the businesses and community members who have helped us along our journey; we wouldn't be were we are today without your support!
